Another Saturday afternoon post

Emily fell asleep in the car on the way home from the mall today. We only live about 5 minutes from the mall, so it's pretty incredible that she was as zonked as she was. Unfortunately, that was right about 12:00 and I let her sleep for about 15 minutes, so now it's almost 3:30 and she still hasn't started in on her afternoon nap. I fell asleep during the 40 minutes I sat with her trying to get her to relax, but no go for her. She's singing in her crib, so hopefully she'll finally pass out for a little while.

This past week has totally sucked. Travis's fever lasted until Tuesday, and he's still pretty tired today. For some reason, he decided that the areas of his life that he could reserve his energy in was anything to help me or to communicate with me. When he finally went back to work on Wednesday, he was back to 10-hour days, and I had to beg and beg for him to watch Emily on Tuesday while I went to the dentist, even though he was at home anyway!! I have been so frustrated, and finally last night I told him so (I figured it was only fair for him to be not deathly ill before I argue with him). His response? I came to bed early to sleep, why are you bothering me?? So I slept in the guest bed, again, like I did most of the nights while he was sick and couldn't sleep, and seemed to think that keeping me up TOO would somehow help him sleep better. I have been so irritated lately, and I honestly don't feel good AT ALL because the pregnancy woes are starting to set in. It has been a really, really hard week. It's amazing how feeling not good physically can lead to not feeling good mentally.

Emily actually used words to tell me something this week. It was pretty awesome. She was sitting in her wagon out on the porch, and she was playing with her shoelaces. She said, "tie, tie, tie," because her shoe was untied!! I tied it for her and she was a happy camper. I tried to reinforce how nicely that worked over just fussing and screaming "Uhh! Uhh! Uhh!", but perhaps it'll take a couple of times to set in for her. It sure felt good for me, though!

Yes, I guess that was the high point of the week. Sure wish I could've been at the wine and guitar hero party in Minneapolis. I miss you guys!!!
