Sickness, part II

So, now that Emily's feeling much better, it's my turn. I started feeling not so great last Tuesday, and I couldn't believe how awful I felt on Thursday, and I stayed home from work on Friday. I was doing okay by Saturday night, and went to "Prom" with Travis and a bunch of our friends. Throughout this whole week, Emily has been up in the night for various reasons - hunger, teething, who-knows-what - so as hard as I try to get more than 8 hours of sleep a night, it has only happened twice in a week. So, I suppose I shouldn't've gone to prom, but it was SO fun, and I don't know when I might have occasion to party like that again. I paid for it on Sunday, and I was really feeling lousy but I went and played volleyball that afternoon, hoping that getting my body temperature up would burn off some germs. Instead I was just worn out. I felt okay on Monday, still groggy but functional, so I went to work all day as a part of my new work schedule (more below). Yesterday was awful, and today when I woke up, my head was on fire from the inside out. It hurt so much to blow my nose (which I've been doing constantly for the past two weeks) that I seriously cried. My ears are so full that it was 11:00 before my left one FINALLY popped. I gave in, and went to the doctor to get some antibiotics to treat a sinus infection. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. I am so incredibly miserable!! I feel like I will be sick forever. :(

Emily's daycare provider asked me to switch days because Emily was the youngest kid on a day when she had 6 or 7 kids total for the afternoon. I'm now working MWF (minus wed morning) so she has a smaller group to be with. I'm pretty sure this situation is mutually beneficial for Emily and her sitter, and I'm all right with the new plan. It's easier to communicate with our offices in Europe now that I'm available for morning phonecalls, and I think I'll like not having four days a week dominated by my work schedule.

Yesterday, when Travis got home, Emily kept saying "ba, ba, pa, pa..." to him, and it eventually turned into "pop, pop!" And I figured out why - when Travis is working on the porch, putting up trim boards around the windows, Emily likes to watch him work, nose pressed up against the sliding glass door. And his pneumatic-powered brad nailer says, "pop! pop!" Isn't that so clever?? :)

I'm about ready to lose consciousness - I am SO TIRED!! Time for my 2nd dose of antibiotics today. hooray!
