Emily is really talking now! I would list all the words I know she can say, but it would be ridiculous and I'd leave out half of them. Pretty much, if she knows what the word means and you say it clearly to her, she'll try it back. With Easter around the corner, her "Bunny!" is particularly amusing. She wore her bunny sweatervest today at Amanda's, and thoroughly enjoyed it. She also has bunny ears that she wears, and loves the bunnies on her puzzles and in her books. I could barely tear her away from her puzzles tonight to have a bath, even though she was exhausted and she loves bathtime. I guess she was loving her puzzles even more!
We had a fantastic visit from my sister's family this past weekend. Emily had SO much fun with her cousins, and we all had an easy, fun visit together. Pictures of the 4 beauties posted at the regular site, of course. When Emily went to daycare on Monday, she slept TWO HOURS more than normal, so she was good and worn out! I'm pretty tired too, though, and I seem to have caught a bizarre cold. My neck hurts and I've got a bit of a sore throat, and my sinuses are a bit congested. Weird.
I had my first doctor's appointment Monday with my new doctor's office, and everything went just fine! They couldn't hear the heartbeat just by listening, so they did an ultrasound, and I got to actually see my baby!!! S/He looks like a little teddy graham, with only buds for arms and legs and a giant head in comparison. It was so cool. :) They'll do another ultrasound at about 20 weeks, which gives us 11 weeks to hash out the whole "finding out" issue. Any thoughts on how to convince Travis to leave it as a surprise? I guess I don't have to be so old-school, and it would be all right to know, but it was so much fun to be surprised. Travis was happy to know that there's only one baby in there - which is something I hadn't thought about but I am also glad to know!
Okay, here's a crack at the word list, just because it's so incredible:
NO, dog (wuvuv), bird, bunny, meow, moo, baa, duck (kack), chicken (kluck), neigh-neigh!, kock-koo [that would be a rooster], shhhh [fish], blubbleblubble [butterfly], more, moon, clock, shooooooes, tie-tie, pat-pat, rock-rock, dry-dry, wash-wash, potty, comb, gentle, blanket, baby, nana, yooooh [yogurt], pancake, waff[le], cccchhhh [cheese, which is not voiced], nooo [noodles], purple, Mom, Dad, Mana [Amanda], Easter, puzzle, and various attempts at names including J.T., Emma, and Sarah. In the car and when on her tractor, there's lots of vroom-vroom and beep-beep! She also loves singing - any time, any place. With books, for bedtime, while playing, in the car, she always asks for more when the song is over.
Today after we got home, we played the most hilarious game in the front yard. Emily likes to play on our front steps, and at one point she happened to sit in the soft, mulchy dirt beside the steps. I dusted off her little bottom, and she thought that was the funniest thing! So she sat in the dirt again, purposefully, and laughed and laughed and laughed when I cleaned her off. There were people walking their dogs and kids going by on tricycles, and birds in the front lawn to chase, so we had a nice little outdoor time. What a happy girl - now that she's caught up on sleep!
