Emily managed to sleep off her fever in one furious 3-hour nap. since then, she's been absolutely fine (phew!) but now Travis is sick! My whole family is napping right now, and while I have the house to myself and the joyous sound of March Madness on the TV, I thought I'd take a minute to share a few super-cute things that Emily has done lately.
We went to the grocery store this week, and for the first time, I set her down on the ground where she could run around. She looked up at me with this incredible smile and took off laughing. I could not believe how far she got from me in just a few seconds!! I knew right where she was, though, because she just kept laughing as she ran, and laughed and ran and laughed and ran. It was so cute. There was almost nobody in the store because it was pretty early in the day, and everybody who saw her started laughing too. It doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous, too. :)
This morning, she was playing with her baby dolls in the living room while Travis and I were in the dining room, sitting in the sun like cats do. I love having a lazy weekend that allows for such luxuries! She came running in with her doll, and put her up in the high chair, and insisted that I buckle her in. Then she grabbed a spoon off the table and pretended to feed her. Then she came over to where Travis was laying on the floor, and patted his head gently. When he lifted his head, she gave him the nicest hug and snuggled up right next to him. I know he's feeling really awful, but I'm sure that made him feel better.
On our way out the door yesterday morning, Emily totally surprised me. She had her socks and shoes and jacket on, and I was putting my jacket on, wondering where my shoes were. She remembered that I had left them by the front door, and she went and got them and brought them to me! I would've wasted 5 minutes looking for them but she knew just what I needed and where to find them! It's so cool to see her as her own person, with original thoughts and ideas.
I got to spend almost an hour outside during their naps today, and I got some yardwork done. It feels good to be a little sweaty and warmed up from the sunshine on this beautiful day. I have been feeling pretty nauseous the past few days, mostly when I'm hungry and thinking about food, especially cooked meat. You can imagine how hard it is to feel like making dinner! Anyway, it's nice to feel good for a few minutes!!!
