18-months

Several milestones come with turning 18 months old:

Pictures this morning! Emily wore a purple dress with white polka-dots and hot pink butterflies for pockets. The gal didn't do a fantastic job, only taking 9 pictures, but I got a couple cute ones and that's really all I wanted. I'll probably go someplace "real" for her 2-year pictures instead of Sears.

Doctor's appointment tomorrow. She'll have more shots, which is too bad, but she'll be going to Amanda's in the afternoon so I especially hope she does all right with them. I am going to ask the doctor if there's anything to be concerned with Emily still having 3-4 messy diapers a day, and fairly often at night. I had the thought that maybe she isn't getting the nutrition from the food she eats, because it goes through her so quickly. Her appetite is a lot to keep up with!

Half birthday, kind of. On her half-birthday, her dad was gone up to Ames to have a wild college evening with his brother before he graduates, so only half of her parents were home. I had half a cake leftover, and I wished her a happy half-birthday and I think she only halfway understood. :)

In our yard, there are several leftovers from the previous owners who did outdoor lawn decorations. One of them is a big wooden bunny, and Emily loves it! It's about a foot tall and its ears are the perfect handle for her to drag it around the yard, saying "BUNNY!" enthusiastically. It's so funny! Today was the first really nice day we've had in a while, and I can tell that Emily is going to be a real outdoors girl. She loves digging in the dirt and running in the grass, and she cried and cried and cried when we came inside tonight to go to bed. We have a bucket swing that Trav is going to try to hang from our maple tree in the yard, so Emily will be in 7th heaven with that! Now I've just gotta get my garden planted...

I've had a harder and harder time eating good food lately. It seems like the only thing that sounds good to me is sugar, because it's cold and odorless. I've had a lot of PB sandwiches and cereal lately. I'm trying to work some raw veggies in, but it's pretty unappetizing. I reheated some cooked chicken for Travis and Emily to eat for dinner tonight, and I about yakked when I caught a whiff of it as I opened the gladware container.

Oh, and my pants are pretty tight around the waist these days. I guess I'll have to start doing the rubber-band thing pretty soon. *sigh*
